What information we collect
When you apply for a role, send us your CV or talk to us about your career, we may collect:
your name, contact details and location;
your CV, employment history, qualifications and skills;
your current salary, salary expectations and notice period;
information about your career goals and the roles you're interested in;
references, and notes from our conversations and interviews;
information needed for pre-employment checks, such as right to work, where a client requires it.
We don't ask for sensitive information, such as health or ethnicity, unless it's needed. For example, we may need to know about adjustments you require for an interview. If you share this kind of information with us, we'll only use it for that purpose.
Where we get your information
Most information comes directly from you. We may also find details of potential candidates on professional networking sites such as LinkedIn, on job boards and through recommendations. If we contact you this way, we'll tell you where we found your details and point you to this notice.
How and why we use your information
We use your information to:
match you with suitable roles and tell you about opportunities;
present you to clients, but only for roles you have agreed to be put forward for;
arrange interviews and manage the recruitment process;
keep in touch about future opportunities, if you're happy for us to do so.
Our lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in providing recruitment services, which also benefits candidates looking for work. Where we carry out checks required by law, our basis is legal obligation. If you sign up for job alerts or newsletters, we'll rely on your consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
Who we share your information with
Clients: we'll only share your details with a client after we've discussed the role with you and you've agreed.
Referees: we contact your referees only with your permission.
Service providers: these include the companies that provide our email, file storage and website services, such as [Google Workspace, Squarespace].
Others where required by law.
We never sell your information.
Some of our service providers may store data outside the UK. Where they do, we make sure appropriate safeguards are in place to protect it.
How long we keep your information
We keep candidate information for two years after our last contact with you, so we can tell you about suitable roles. After that we delete it, unless you've asked us to keep it. If you're placed in a role, we keep the records needed for our business and legal obligations for six years.
Your rights
You have the right to:
ask for a copy of the information we hold about you;
ask us to correct anything inaccurate;
ask us to delete your information;
object to how we use it, or ask us to restrict its use;
withdraw your consent at any time, where we rely on it.
To use any of these rights, email rory@longhousehq.com. There's no charge, and we'll respond within one month.
